Marsha Y. Tallant became the Chief Financial Officer for the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh on January 28, 2008.

 

Tallant, who is a parishioner at Christ Church in Greensburg, has had many years of experience in parish financial work. She began her career as the bookkeeper of Christ Church in 1982. Concurrently, she earned her Associate Degree in Accounting from Westmoreland County Community College . She began her employment at the diocese in September of 1997 as the part time bookkeeper. Tallant dedicated herself to continual education and training in non-profit accounting, parish finances and human resources. She was named Accountant in 2001. From June of 2005 through March of 2006 she served as the Interim Director of Administration between the tenure of Nancy Norton and Jack Downie.

 

An active leader in her parish, Tallant has served on the Vestry of Christ Church as Senior Warden and Treasurer. Additionally, she has ministered over thirty years on the Altar Guild, as a Lay Reader and LEV, a Sunday school teacher and choir member. On a diocesan level, she has served on the Cursillo Secretariat and many Cursillo teams.

 

Tallant has been a servant of her community as a Girl Scout leader and district representative, Cub Scout leader, officer of the PTO, Chairperson for the Heart Association in the city of Jeannette and Treasurer/member of the Westmoreland Choral Society.

 

Tallant and her husband, George, have been married since 1969 and live in Mt. Pleasant. They have three children: Cassandra White who lives in Lewistown, PA; Brian who lives in Portland, OR; and Paul who also lives in Mt. Pleasant . They are blessed with one beautiful granddaughter, Quavala Tallant. She enjoys sewing, knitting, camping, and being out in the snow.
