Upcoming Book Conversation on Racial Reconciliation with Bishop Jim

The Color of Compromise

During this unprecedented time of social unrest and protest, a consistent call to the majority culture is to educate themselves on the race issues being brought to the forefront.

Since the beginning of the year, Bishop Jim has been leading conversations on books that seek to educate ourselves on issues of racism, racial reconciliation and our response as the church. These conversations are occurring quarterly on the Fifth Friday of the month & has come to be called the Fifth Friday Book Conversations. Our next conversation is on Friday, July 31 from 7:00-8:30 pm. All members of the diocese are welcome to attend. Reading the book in advance is highly recommended as it will be the centerpiece of conversation. This is not a debate of issues, but a dialogue about the contents of the book.

The next book in the series is The Color of Compromise: The Truth About the American Church's Complicity in Racism by Jemar Tisby. "The Color of Compromise reveals the chilling connection between the church and racism throughout American history. A survey of the ways Christians of the past have reinforced theories of racial superiority and inferiority provides motivation for a series of bold actions believers must take to forge a future of equity and justice." - Zondervan Summary

The book may be purchased wherever you get your books in multiple formats, including audiobook.

This conversation will be held electronically on Zoom. We ask for RSVP's so we can send the Zoom meeting information.
