on August 28.

On Saturday, August 28, James Jeffrey Smead was ordained as a priest by the Rt. Rev. John Rodgers, Jr. at Epiphany Anglican Fellowship in Ligonier, PA. Prior to his ordination, Smead had a career in the financial industry. In 2006, he retired from his position as Executive Vice President of S & T Bank and started on a path toward ordained ministry within the Anglican Church.  After completing seminary training at Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA in 2009, he was ordained as a deacon in the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh, a member of the Anglican Church in North America. His ordination to the priesthood comes a little more than one year after his ordination as a deacon.

The ordination service brought together people from numerous Christian denominations. Clergy from various parts of Western Pennsylvania were in attendance, including clergy from the Hungarian Reformed Church. All clergy participated in the laying on of hands during the ceremony. The sermon was given by the Rev. Steve Wood from Saint Andrew’s Church in Mount Pleasant, SC. Music for the service was led by Lisa Houser and Jeff DeMao, both members of Epiphany Anglican Fellowship. Epiphany Anglican Fellowship meets on Sunday mornings at 9:00AM at 135 Kalassay Drive in Ligonier, PA. Additional information about this church can be found at their website.
