Lenten Series: Hearing the Scriptures

Lenten Series: Hearing the Scriptures

"One of the most important things at the time of the Reformation was the reading of the Scriptures in the church—that people could hear them on a Sunday. Not everybody in the 15th and 16th centuries could read well, and as the services were translated into the language of the people, it was so important that people hear the Scriptures and it still is. It's central to our identity that we have a lectionary of readings that, over the course of three years, helps make sure that a great portion of the Scriptures are read and heard Sunday by Sunday."

Watch the second video of Bishop Alex's Lenten series (catch up on the entire series here), as he explains how hearing the Scriptures benefits our faith and life.
