About Our Bishop

The Right Reverend Alex Whitcomb Cameron was consecrated Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh on August 6, 2022. He has been an ordained Anglican priest for more than 30 years, serving churches in Montreal, Vermont, and Chicago. Most recently, he led the Isaiah Forty Foundation, which provides teaching, prayer, and coaching to those seeking healing and wholeness.

Alex has served as Canon for Church Planting and Leadership Development in the Anglican Diocese in New England, on their Standing Committee as a member and as Chair, and as the Chair of the Bishop’s Council in the Diocese of the Upper Midwest. He previously worked for General Electric and had his own consulting company. He holds a M.Div. from Wycliffe College in Toronto, ON, Canada, a B.A. from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, Canada.

Alex and his wife Tamara have been married since 1987. They have four adult children: Jessie, Sarah, Aidan and Claire. They also have three grandchildren. He enjoys cycling, woodworking, and music (double bass).

“I am thankful for the College’s consent and for the election by the Diocese of Pittsburgh. I look forward to gathering with the Diocese and digging into the work of ministry,” he said. When asked about what the heart of his ministry has been over the years, he answered, “It has been to remind people that the gospel is true—to remind people so that they don’t forget that Jesus is Lord and that He saves.”
