Wesley was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. He attended Florida State University, where he began reading the Gospels for the first time with a friend. After seeing the love of Jesus in the cross and the power and hope of the resurrection, Wesley put his faith in the saving work of Jesus in 2007.
Wesley graduated from Florida State University with a degree in creative writing and, a year later, began attending Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. He served as the youth minister at Prince of Peace in Hopewell, and volunteered at the Church Army USA ministry Uncommon Grounds in Aliquippa while completing his studies. He remained with the cafe for a year after graduating with his Master's of Divinity.
Over the following years, Wesley worked a few secular jobs while discerning God's call in his life. In December of 2021, he entered the discernment process with Church of the Ascension and was ordained to the Diaconate in June of 2023. He started a curacy with Ascension that same summer, and married his wife, Meg, later that year.
